Garage Door Installation
Garage Door Installation
Garage door installation is not something that home-owners usually do on their own, as almost every company out there that sells garage doors include services where they will install everything as part of the package. But there may be certain cases or situations where home-owners have to install their garage doors themselves, and in such cases a little walk-through can go a long way.
One guideline that needs to be noted is that garage doors have a torsion spring system that can be quite dangerous if removed by non-professionals. Call someone adept at such tasks to remove an existing garage door that is about to be replaced.
For installing the garage door, first attach the weatherstripping to the bottom edge of the first panel. Set the panel in the doorway, place it properly with nails and attach the hinges. Once that is done, install the rollers and all necessary brackets. Slip the vertical track on both sides afterwards.
The next few steps you should do involves installing the hinges of the first section to the next one, installing the third, and fastening the top plates of the vertical tracks and attaching them to the framing members. Install the horizontal and curved tracks afterwards and bolt both of the pieces together. Check the horizontal track level, and then cut the rear track hanger to a length you deem fit for supporting the track. Next, screw the track hanger on to the solid framing and mount the track to the hanger. Do the same procedure with the other horizontal track, fit the last door section in its place, and you're all set.
