Gutter Installation

Gutter Installation

Gutters are frequently neglected and forgotten by many households all over, and a lot of people do not realize the importance of replacing their gutters from time to time. The task of installing gutters is not something that cannot be done by non-professionals, and can actually lead to home-owners having a better appreciation of their own homes.

First, plan out your gutter run. Determine the length of the gutter run, the amount of down spouts you will be requiring, and the length that will be necessary for those down spouts to have.

The next task is to use chalk in order to draw locations and guides to where your gutter will be installed. Consider the sloping areas that are supposed to lead the rainwater from the gutter to the down spouts.

Next, install the down spout outlets with the help of 1 ΒΌ inch deck screws. These screws can be used to attach your down spout outlets, keeping them secure by the sides of your house. Hang the gutter hangers afterwards, and then cover the gutter corners. Covering the gutter corners will prevent water from leaking, preventing unnecessary damage and keeping your gutters from getting water damage too fast.

Cut the gutters with a hacksaw afterwards and bring everything together. Connect the gutter sections and assemble everything else that needs assembling. Afterwards cut a piece of drain pipe that will fit between the elbow joint of the down spout, which should be the last task in installing your new gutter.
